Special offer

I’ve been down to check out local bands at this venue two or three times since it opened in late April. It’s early days, and we can’t yet tell how it’s going to do, but the place could naturally do with support at this early stage. I’m performing there on Saturday 11 June. I had said that I’d be starting at 9.30 p.m., but the organizers have changed the time to 10:00 pm on their announcement, so I guess that’s what it will be. So here’s the offer:

The first 20 people who come to the gig and approach me with these words: “YOU ARE A GREAT BLUES PLAYER AND I CLAIM MY DISCOUNT CODE” will be given a secret code (ooohh, secret!) which you can excitedly enter at the Shop here as soon as you get home. This will let you get a 100%-free download of the new “For The Record” album.

With the help of Google Translate here is a probably faulty Italian version:

Le prime 20 persone che vengono al concerto e mi avvicinano con queste parole: “SEI UN GRANDE BLUES PLAYER E RIVENDICO MIO CODICE SCONTO” verrà dato un codice segreto (Ooohh, segreto!), che è possibile inserire nel negozio qui non appena arrivi a casa. Questo vi permetterà di ottenere un download-free al 100% del nuovo album “For The Record”.
Si prega di perdonare gli errori nel italiano!

How’s that for an innovative lark?

Oh yes, how to find it? Arpiola is on the SP31, which runs along the west side of the Magra River, from Pontremoli down to Villafranca. The bridge across the river at Villafranca is still closed, so the commonest approach would be, if you arrive on the motorway, to get off at the Pontremoli exit but then turn LEFT, away from Pontremoli. You arrive in Arpiola after about 2.5 km. Wait until you see the yellowish Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara on your left, then turn immediately right up the SP32. (It’s signposted to Mulazzo amongst other places.) The Roby Rock (formerly the Manhattan Bar) is just about 200 m up on the right. To add a joy on top of joy, there is plenty of parking very nearby.

For good measure, you can find it on Google Maps here.
